LEESTON CLUB'S OPENING. Tlio official opening of the Leeston Amateur Swimming .Club's season took place oa Labour Day, iu the presence of a good attendance of tho public. In declaring the season open, the president, Mr A. T. Robertson, referred to the fact that some .of the most active, and enthusiastic members had answered tlio call of King and Empire-. A short programme of events was then gone through, the following boing the results: — District Schoolboys' Race, 25yde—J. Ramsey, 2sco, 1; R. Inwood, scr, 2; J. Pickering, ssec, 3. District Schoolboys' Springboard Dive—J. Ramsey 1, E. Amor 2. Handicap Club Race, 25yds—S. M. Jackman, ssec, 1; E. Donald, 2sec, 2; S. Maxwell, scr. 3. Time, 25scc. Club Springboard Dive—S. Harwell 1, E. Donald 2. Plunge—E. Donald 1, A. Bryce 2. Relay Race, 50yds—S. Maxwell an£ E. Donald 1. S. Jackman and J. Ramsey 2, A. Bryco and J. C. Mercer 3.
ADDINGTON, CLUB. At the annual meeting of the Aldington Amateur Swimming Club, Canon "W. S. Beat, presided. The annual rofjiort and balance-sheet were read and adopted. The following officers were elected:—Patron, Canon W. S. Bean; president, Mr W. Johnson; vice-presidents, Messrs W. G. Burns, J. Down, M. W. "Woodfield, G. Penlington, W. R. Gahagan, H. G. Ell, M.P., and "VV. N. Seay; club captain, Mr L, Penrose; vico-oaptain, Mr E. Morse; hon. secretary, Mr W. C. Hulstoa; treasurer, Mr W. G. Burns; delegate to Centre, Mr W. Johnson.; auditor, Mr W. N. Seay; committee, Messrs E. Crook, A. Turnpenny, N. Down, "W. Clements, and H. BelL It waa decided to grant twelve free membership tickets to boys attending the Addington school. Tho opening was fixed for Saturday, October 28th.
RICHMOND CLUB. The annual general 'meeting of the Richmond Amateur Swimming Club was held on Tuesday, Mr P. J. C. Fantkam presiding over
a good attendance. Mr Eldridge referred to the number of swimmers mentioned in the casualty and moved Q» motion of sympathy with those bereaved. The motion was carried in silence, members etaiiding. The report stated that the season had been a. vary successful oil©, although a num- i ber wore away on active service. The annual , carnival was held as usual, and the proceeds-, ; : £18 4s 7d, were hapded to the P-atriotic I Fund. Tie balance-sheet showed a credit j balance of £12. _ | j The chairman, in moving the adoption of . the report and balsroce-aheet, congratulated . tho club on its success during the season, . and referred to the number of members , serving at the front, and wished them all a j ( safe return. '. The report and balance-sheet .were adopted, i; Mr C. Pimm - wss unanimously elected a ■ life member of the club. Yeoman; hon. secretary, and treasurer, Mr A. Osborne; delegates to Canterbury Centre, Messrs E. F. T. Eldridge anrj A. Osborne; delegate to Sports Protection Association, Mr A. Osborne; hon. handicapper and entry fee collector, Mr E. Pimm; hon. auditor, Mr K. Baesett; committee, Messrs J. H. Knudscn, C. H. Jones, G. L. Bull, L. Barwell, D. Barns, H. Spar-
row, and F. Green. Mr G. L. Bull's offer to provide a Roll of Honour, was accepted with thanks. It was decided to open the season on November 17th.
A grant of £2 2a waa made to the Richmond Bod Cross Branch.
