According to a decision of the producers' representatives an originating summons is being issued to test tlio validity of certain portions of tho -which embodies tho Board of Trade's scheme for tho regulation of butter prices in the Dominion. Tho secretary of the Fanners' Union cabled to Mr Massey protesting; against tho export tax on butter-fat being imposed without the sanction of Parliament, as being directly opposed to the Government's expressed policy, and relying on Mr Massey to prevent this injustice being done to the dairy industry. Mr Massey has replied that he is communicating with tho Government. HAWERA, October 21. At a representative meeting of the dairy industry in Taranaki at Hawcra on Saturday, a resolution was carried protesting against the principle contained in the recommendations of the Board of Trade's report and the regulations made by the Government with regard to the fixing of the price of butter locally and confirming the action of the Special Committee in deciding to test the validity of tho regulations.
