MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING
NORTH CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIP. Tlie championship of North Canterbury was fired at Amberley on Saturday evening. Representatives of tho Amberley, Sefton, Scargill, and Waikari Clubs took part, and after strong competition S. Frew, of the Amberley Club, won. The conditions were the best score in three Association matches added to a final shoot of 10 rounds, the possible being 210 for match performances and 100 for tho final, making an aggregate of 310. Frew had to his credit 210 for match rounds, and finished up with a possible. A record pwfonnance was put up by E. of the Soften Club, who 6-tarted the evening by scoring 68, 70, 70, or a total of 208 for match rounds, and on joining Frew at the "mound," succeeded in placing 33 bull's-eyes without leaving his place. Frew failed on th? 33rd shot. During the evening Topp registered 59 bull's-eyes. The following were the results: — Championship. S. Frew .. .. 310 Ist E. Topp .. .. 303 2nd A. Johnston (Sefton) tHirvi.
