IN BANKRUPTCY.
ESTATE OF J. \Y. TA.NT. A -meeting of creditors in the estate ol' J. W. Taut, builder, was hold in v\u Official Assignee's Office yesterday afternoon. Mr T. D. Kenclali, the Official Assignee, presided, and there was a largo attendance 0 f creditors. In his sworn statement, bankrupt said he had been through the Court m 1909, obtaining his discharge the following year. in 11)11) he again started in business, and was successful up till March, 1910, when lie called a meeting of his creditors oil the advice of his solicitor. The meeting decided he should assign his estate, and that Messrs Mawson Stewart and Beckett should realise it within one year, and pay 1-s Gd in the £. In ApriL last it was agreed that he .should file. He was confident that if realised to the best- advantage the ostate pay -*V; in the £. ,H<\ .attributed his position to (1) the strike, (■-'j the increased cost of material, and the high rate of wages, and (3) the war. The bankrupt's statement was accompanied by a schedule showing that I" I (ill") wn,s owing to unsecured creditors. Tho book debts were estimated to produce .ilUSii Its lid. The sifrplus from securities in the hands of secured creditors was £1252 17s <id, leaving a deficiency of £So ISs 7d. At tor discussion, Messrs Stewart. McMurray, and McCully were appointed a committee to act with tho Public Trustee, in the realisation of the estate.
