EDUCATIONAL MATTERS.

(I'IIKSS ASSOCIATION" TELEGBAM.) GREYMOUTH, June 5. Mr C. H. Opic, chairman of the North Canterbury Education Board, in conference with the Grey Education Board, said with regard to tho amalgamation of districts, that jt was ono of the grossest pieces of misrepresentation he had known. The two Coast boards taken into the Canterburv bodv should each be in a position to elect a representative, whereas tho actual position was that possibly thev would not clcct one. All would depend on tho way they used their powers. Generally the opinion of the conference was that amalgamation was not desired by the members of the boards, but had been brought about by tho teachers. Preliminary matters regarding the taking over of the other local boards' affairs by the Canterbury Board have beeu arranged.
