Dll. A\\ IRVING'S EXPERIENCES. | Dr. "William Irving, of this city, who j left in June last for England, return- I ed homo yesterday. Immediately on arriving in_ England Dr. Irving reported afc the "War Office, and was' sent to Netley Military Hospital—tho largest military hospital in . England. At that institution Dr. Irving put in six months of strenuous work. There were only an odd ono or two 2vo*v Zealandcrs at Netloy, the majority being sent to the AY a 1 ton Hospital. Dr. li-ving was impressed with the wonderful way in which English medical men responded to the. call for service with the forces. He thinks that there is a sufficient supply of medii cal men in the British Isles, although the authorities say that they could do with more. This is, however, due to I tile natural desire of the authorities to | have a large reserve to call upon. They never know when there is to bo a big push at the front, and consequently they want a cood reserve of men to fall back on. The High Commissioner. Sir : Thomas Mackenzie, undertook to secure a nassage for Dr. Irving on the j Marama, but on arrival in Egypt Dr. , Irving found that one of the Maheno s medical men desired to transfer to the Marama and the transfer was effected.
