Bates, Government Meteorologist, supplied the following weather report at 1 p.m. yesterday: — Cloudy and misty conditions havo ruled, and useful rain has fallen in many pirte of tlie Dominion. The barometer rose everywhere during the night, but ha« fallen slightly to-day. Prossnt indications arc for strong soutlicasteily to north-ensterly winds. Expect cloudy und unsettled weath?r with rafn, capeciajiy over the North Island, and the barometer unsteady, with a falling tendency.
