THE WEATHER.
HOT DAY FOLLOWED BY RAIN. Christchurch people were called upon to endure a sweltering nor'-west day yesterday. The heat throughout tho entire day was intense, and relief was long ux coming. The sk;v clouded oyer about 5 o'clock, and a few spots °i raiD a °thing worth talking about. A couple of hours later, however, there was a really good downpour. lasting for some minutes, and a change of wind io the south-west dissipated the heat. Later in the niglu steady rani set in. with every prospect of continuing.
