As vicar Mr Haggitt had not spared himself and had been ever energetic in his supervision of the parish. All valued the good work Mr Haggitt had done, and his efforts in connexion with the building scheme had shown that a good vicar brought forth good workers. Both Mr and 3lrs Haggittcarried with them tho heartfelt esteem and respect of tho parishioners. (Applause.) Mr A. W. Eames and Mr J. Holmes Runnicles also- eulogised the work done by Mr Haggitt. In acknowledging the gifts Mr Haggitt said that he had been also presented with a revolving chair by the teachers and scholars of the Sundayschool. He would prize the v gifts a«* tokens of the esteem and affection of the parishioners. He spoke of the great assistance Mrs Haggitt had given him and expressed tho hope that St. Matthew's would continue to prosper. During the evening a number of mnsical and other items were given.
