Mrs Boyle has received the following cabio message from Dr. Acland, Port Said: — "Ple-aeo send blankets, pyjamas (flannelette permissible), shirts, underpants, socks, hou3ewircs." Mrs Boyle soys the request is an urgent one, and makes an appeal for the articles mentioned by Dr. Acland. They should be sent to the Red Cross Depot, Worcester street, and specially addressed "For Dr. Acland'a Hospital.'' Tho articles, if eent in promptly, will go next week by a P. and O. boat leaving Australia. MEETING OF CITIZENS' COMMITTEE. The * executive of th« Citizens' Red Cross Fund met yesterday. There were present Messrs A. E. G. Rhodes (chairman), H. Holland, M. J. Greason, W. T. Robinson, J. A. Flesher, J. Sutton, Bowker, Canon Burton, and Dr. Mickle.
The meeting was called to consider tho beet method of collecting the necessary gooda and material for the Hospital Ship. Mesdamoa Boylo and Hill, ot tho Ladicfl' Red CroEe committee, were present at tho mectiuff and a discussion ensued as to the sending of poods.
It wa« unanimcruslr decided that everyone who sent goods direct to' Wellington should notify the local Rod Cross Society so that the officials ot that Society - would know what was sent, and in thii way overlapping would be prevented*
The mat tor of « public appoal for money was left in the hands of the Mayor to deal With.
An appeal from the Veterans' Association for a«sistanco to. furnish the proffered oonvalceoent home for returned eoldiera at New Brighton was considered. It was thought that the Association should furnish the house themselves, but if material was actually needed for wounded soldiers housed there there waa so objection to the Ladies' Committee of the Bed Croas Society providing
Mr A. E. G. Rhodes stated that he had reooived a oablo message to the effect that his son, Lieutenant Tabu Rhodes, had been, invalided H,atne, and wa« in England. It waa possible that he (tho speaker) and Mrs Rhodes would be going Home shortly, and he wanted to tell the meeting so that the members could consider the etoction of o not her chairman, should it bo necessary.
