CONSTRUCTION OF RAILWAYS.
NEW SECTIONS TO BE AUTHORISED. BILL BEFORE PARLIAMENT. (special to "the press .") WELLINGTON, September 27. The construction of various new sections of railway along routes already docidcd upon, and in course of preparation, is authorised by the Railways Authorisation Bill, introduced in the House to-night by Governor's message. Tho sections particularly specified are as follows : — [ Paeroa-Pckeno route, a length of about six miles from tho authorised line at I'aeroa to a point in tho Waihou Survey District. East Coast Main Trunk route, length of about 24* miles from the end of the authorised line at Athenreo to tho end of the authorised lino at Wairoa river; a length of about 26J miles from the end of the authorised line at Tancatua to Opotiki; and a third section of about 93 miles from the end of the authorised line at Hangaroa to the end of tho authorised line in Block 3, Puketapii Survey District. A branch line of about two miles to a wharf on the left bank of the Wairoa river, opposite Wairoa town, is also proposed. South Island Main Trunk line, length of about 13 miles from the end of the authorised line at Kekerangu to tho Clarence river. Lawrence-Roxburgh route, section of about 15 miles from the end of tho authorised line at Beaumont to the northern boundary of Block 3. Bcnger Survey District.
