GERMAN CRUISER AND DESTROYER REPORTED SUNK. WERE THERE TWO ACTIONS? STOCKHOLM. July 3. There was a severe fight between German and Russian cruisers and destroyers in tho vicinity of A German destroyer and a cruiser of the Magdeburg type were sunk. Four Russian cruisers chased tho German mine-layer Albatross eastward of Gothland, killing twenty-four and wounding sevonty-one of her crew. The Albatross ran ashore to avoid capture. Just as the Albatross was disabled, a German squadron which outnumbered tho Russians arrived, and a vigorous engagement ensued, the Russian ships retiring slowly northward to safety. The German torpedo-boat destroyers landed many wounded men at Gothland.
