Frasor, ;Gtfrernment -Statistician, *r_qucsted tio Co_ncil to furnish in duplicate the annual statistical returns of th© Eyre County for tho last financial year. The secretary of the Openair Homes for Children Fund asked the Council' to assist in collecting funds for the Home, and enclosing subscription .Est. It was. resolved that a ' piublio .meeting be called at 2 p.m. on August 3rd to consider the matter. The- North Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board stated that the amount levied on the C-o.npcil feu* tho year onding March. aist; 1915, :waa £585 9s 3d; The Ccuneil e_pre_sed -sympathy with the Kaiapoi Borough Council's efforts to obtam weather reports from the Bealey. Section No. 7880,1 of 100 acres, for workmen's cottages,, at £32 per acre.—lt was resolved th_st .-_• Chisn—l bo asked to sell fivo acres fronting Jackson's road. Mt S. _, "Webb complained of the water from the.creek at the culvert on Chapman's -toancJnry o-oad flooding his laud.—lt was resolved tho water-course between the two concrete culrort- bo cleaned out. Mr T. I>ou_s, secretary and dn-ec-tor of th© Kaiapoi Technical School, applied for. the Council's annual oontri--ution, now overdue.—-Rosolved that £10 be granted. Mr B. A. Knight complained of the state of the road, fronting Mr. Blackmore's land at ■ the end of Snevd street, and requested tho "Council to form a few chains of footpath on tho south side of the -road.—• Mr Blackraoro to bo requested to trim and lower tho trees on tho north tnde of tho road. "Mr A. Bradley applied for loa-ve to cut willows along tho creek from tho Ohoka creek bridge to the culvert at Evans's corner, and offere-i 3s 6d -per cord for same.—Referred to tho I chairman. Mr William Hart r_q*aest_d I the Oouncfl to form the footpath along I tho western side of tho north road from ! the Ohoka road to Busby's corner, for - drainage.—Rosolved that Mr Hart be informed that tho formingof the footpath, was under consideration, bui-_no house-slops must be turned on to the road. __r R. Dawson declined to sell land on tbo School road for a shingle pit.—Referred to Mr F. G. Horrell. The Paparua County Council requested the Council to appoint two delegates to attend a to eeting, to be hold at -tho _>rainage Board office, to diseilfis tho advisability of forming a local Counties' As-scciation.—-Resolved that Messrs Evans and Dixon be apf)_int_d to represent tho county. Mr Marmaduke J. Dixon complained of the state of the ford acrdas ,the riTer Eyre, and offered to takA it undo* 4 his own control. —Resolved to give Mr "Dixon control of the ford to do anything for Jus own oonvonionce." Mr W. Spriggs complained ■ of the reservo he occupied being overvalued. —The clork was directed to lodge an appeal -Sot a red notion to £2 pev aero. -.- •--__• H. and several others complained of the state of the Springbank road. —R_f_rre_ to Mr H. J. Hbrrell and tho surveyor, to report and invite tenders for breaking stone for next meeting. It was resolved that notice bo served on owner; and occupiers to clear gorse on Raddon's road and on the Cemetery road fronting. Messrs Jlothiiigton, Wyatl, and Ferguson requested tho Council to repair the sides of Clothier's road. — Resolved that the sides be graded from I the fence to the centre of tho road Mr F. W. Flanagan, Valuer-General, asked for a return of rates paid to Juno 30th for the year ending March 81st, '1914. —The clerk was directed to obtain the total-valuation for the county from the Valuation Department. The surveyor was dire-ted to prevent shingltf being carted from the Rangiora main drain from below the Skew bridge to have tho drain opened out from the ■ Skew culvert across the Downs road . and to have the water-course .between \ the two concreto culverts west of Chapman's road cleaned out, and to obtain a supply of planks for present uso. The clerk was directed to prow* for pavmonts of rents overdue, and to dispose of the'firewood ai.the office at. 12s per cord. A special meeting of tho Council was then held.;' A' letter was j_c*-nVed 1 from the Auditor-Oeneral,' enclosing the balance-sheet for the year ending March 31st, 1914, certified as correct, showing tho total receipts to have been £3717 6"s, lOd, and the expenditure £3452 4s Id, leaving a credit balance of •£265 Is 9d. Mr F. G. Horrell _troposed, and Mr J. Wright seconded, that the balance-sheet, as read, be received and adopt_d.--Carried. It was resolved that the -wears of rent owing by P. on Heservo No: 369 bo written off.
