DISCOVERY OF GOLDFIELDS.
A petition was presented to tho Houso of Representatives to-day by the Hon. W. H. Hemes, on behalf of Alex. Mackay. Petitioner claimed that ho was the first discoverer of gold in 1866 at Waihi, on tho ground now hold by the Waihi Comnany, and also at Karangahake, Waitckauri, and Owharoa.
