NORTH CANTERBURY MOTOR CYCLE CLUB.
KJUJIiXi. CiiUi>. TO THE EDITOR OP "THE PRESS." Sir.r —Your report of the meeting in : this morning's "Press" of the North Canterbury. Motor-cycle Club, I think, hardly conveys a, correct impression of the import of the motion I put to the meeting. After the subject of the recent side-car reliability trial had been somewhat fully discussed oy- various members, and by their remarks and from ; facts stated, it was clearly indicated that the unsatisfactory results of that I trial were due entirely to insufficient and faulty rules governing the trial, and that the committee found themselves confronted with the difficult position of having to adjudicate according to the rules as they stood, I reviewed the whole situation, and pointed out that under the circumstances the committee wore justified in doing what they did, and moved:-—''That tho judge and committee he absolved from responsibility in connexion with the results of the trial, and this meeting supports their action in cancelling the trial." This was subsequently carried unanimously. It was regrettable that the chief cause of the trouble arose from incomplete records of at least one observer, but as greater care will no douiii be. exercised in future in the selection of observers, and the rules are to be amended so as to absolutely nrecludc any possibility -of similar difficulties arising;, there is no reason why confidence in the management should not be continued. —Yours, etc., _ . • . E. H. JACKSON. Chrnstchurch, 9th July, 1914.
