LOCOMOTIVE ASSOCIATION'S CONFERENCE; '
END OF CONFERENCE.
The conference of the New Zealand Locomotive Engine-drivers', Firemen, and Cleaners' Association was concluded at the Trades Hall on Saturday.
Adjustments of the rules, necessitated by the decisions arrived at by Conference, were dealt with in committee. A deputation was appointed to wait on the Minister of Railways and the General Manager, to lay before them the decisions arrived at by Conference. '■■'■■■'. .
Comment was made upon tho fact that certain promises made by the late General .Manager (during the period that Mr A. M. Myers was Minister of Railways) had not been given effect to. Especial reference was made to tho fact that the promise made- that mon called upon to prepare an engine which'-was afterwards not wanted should bo allowed a minimum of four hours, had not been kept. The opinion was generally expressed that the* men in the locomotive branch of the service were dissatisfied with tho wages at present paid.
