p _ At the annual meeting of tho Christchurch Card Association, .Mr W. Ware presided over a,full attendance of delegates. The balance-sheet showed a small credit for the season. The alterations in tho rules were confirmed, and . wil come into operation this season. Tho election of officers resulted: — Chairman, Mr B, Peters; vice-chair-man, Mr W. Dean; secretary and treasurer, Mr H. 1\ Bradwell; Catering Committee, Messrs Jones, bnackle, Johnston, with the. secretary and chairman ex-officio; Dispute Messrs Oatcs, Dean, MeGuffog, liradwell, and Stephens. It was decided to open the season on Friday next in tho Foresters , Hall. A meeting of stall-holders to rcceivo tho audited accounts in connection with tho Somorfield School. Christmas fair was held at the school last Thursday. Mr E. T. Martin presided, and most of tho stall-holders were present. fc>omo quantity of yoods were unsold at. tho conclusion of tho fair, and realisation of these had only recently been completed. Accounts slwyed a surplus of £'92 HJs 6d on tho fair itself, and of £67 l£s lid on the socials in connection with the fnir, mnking n total profit of £160 12s sd. Out of this total the fancy and art stall (Mesdfimes McCraoken and Coleman, Miss Picken and Mr Martin) accounted for £30 19s 7d. the produce stall (Mrs Munday , ) £30 14s 2d. and tho plain work stall (Mesdames Martin and Largo )£3O. The accounts were adopted by tho meeting, and tho secretaries (Messrs Inglis and Joyce) complimented on their work. . The meeting made a recommendation to the incoming School Committee that all socials to raise money in ronnection with tlio School should still be held at tho school. Jacobeon) in the chair. A letter was received from Mr T. **• Kirk saying that he had communicated with tho Health Department in .reference to tho adulteration of honey. The Health Department hud replied to hi* representations on the matter, ami would take action where a breach of the Sale of Foods and Drugs Act had been committed. Mr It. W. Brickell (Dunediu) wroto asking when the next conference would be held, as he had had a number of enquiries in reference to it. It was resolved that tho conference should be held in Wellington on. Juno 19, 20 and SI, and the secretary was instructed to write Mr Kirk askiug him to arrange, if possible, to hold the meeting in the Museum Buildings. In view of tho fact that the National Federated Bee-keepers' Association have now made satisfactory arrangements for the export of honey onder Government grading and inspection, the industry should bo greatly benefited. An enthusiastic meeting of sweet pe* and carnation growers was held in the Gloucester Chambers on Friday, Mr JWyn Irwin beins elected to the chair. I It was agreed that the time was opportune for greater encouragement being given to growers of these flowers, and it was decided to form a. Sweet JPea and Carnation Society. A strong executive was appointed to draft rules and regulations to be submitted to a general meeting to be hold shortly. It was reported that a number of trophies and donations have already been promised.
