An excited crowd assembled, and! the suffragettes rushed for refugo into a houso and bolted the door. The police broko down tho door and arrested them. A largo force of polico then protected the suffragettes from a huge threatening crowd, who were shouting "Chuck them in the Thames." After sheltering in tho police station for somo hours tlio women woro released.
