XEW BRIGHTON CLUB. The-annual meeting of tho New Brighton Golf Club ivil 1 be hold on Thursday night. Tho'annual report includes the following:— Finance—ln addition to tho general expenses of upkeep, a further sum of '£100 has boen bunk iv permanent improvements to tho course. £11 5s of this oniount has been written off, also one-half of the old ground formation account, a total of £150. The revenue of tbo Club hae increased from £193 lGs to £301 9s, and the liabilities, on open nccourrte, reduced from £187 lfis 7d to £127. 16s Bd. The Bank overdraft now stands at £139 Oβ 5(1. The beat thanks of members are due to Mr T. W. Edinonde for taking up a block of debentures (£SO) at a, time when the Club ■was urgently in need of funds. Your committee hope that those members who have not already subscribed, will see their way to tuko up it few cf> these debentures during the ensuing year. Membership.—The eeaeon closed with a total membership of 130: Men (active) 71. (honorary) 3, U.diee (active) 56. Course. —A good deal of top dressing has been dono during tho year and tbo vho'o course shows a marked improvement especially tie hills at the back. The greens and tees are in excellent order. To enable membera to more eueily rescue their balls it has been decided to experiment with a groin through, the water hazard under Xo. 1 tee. If successful, others will bo laid down. Club Captain.—By the departure of Mr D. Collins from the Dominion, the Club lost the services of a very capable and energetic officer. Mr M. D. Meures filled the breach most efficiently for the remainder of tho season. Ladiee' Committee.—lt is hoped that a strong ladies' committee will bo formed this year to take charge of all matters resting to ladies' teams, competitions, and handicapping. ' Prizos and Donation?.—The thanks of the Club are due to Miss Dil'.worth, Messrs Bishop, Collins, Bullock. Hood, and Clements, and the Dresden Piano Co. for epecinl prizes and donations. The financial statements shown:—Receipts £351 9s. expenditure £490 18» sd, which include* £114 l£s 3d bank overdraft brought forward, and £2SO 11s Id frround formation and upkeep, letving a debit ba!»nce of £139 9s sd. The first round of the play-off for the Borthwick Vose wa« played at Shirley on Saturday. S. K. Sleigh beat H. Hudeon 3up and 1 to play, L. Bonnin?ton beat M. G. Thomas 2 tip, M. G. Louisson beat J. D. Karke 4 up and 2 to play, E. Ma-cfarlane and 3J. H. Godby ended all equnre. The next round will be played next Saturday.
