CANTERBURY PARK T.C.'S SUMMER MEETING.

Though a plight drizzle fell in the forenoon, tho weather wa3 by no means unfavourable yesterday for the opening of tho Canterbury Park Trotting Club's Summer Meeting, and thero was a very good attendance. The track wa3 in first-class order, fast times wero registered during the day, and there was some interesting racing. The totalisator investments were £15,944, as compared with £12,572 10s last year. Wattlcwood led for hall a mile, when •Maori Haka took charge, but the latter at the end of six furlongs, and Frandocia, were in front with half the journey gono, followed by Little Joe, St. Trclla, Merrywood, and Tho Whip. Going along the back Tho Whip_ ran into second place, and ho and Frandocia drew out from the others. In a good finish Frandocia won by a length and a half from The Whip, with Litt:e Joe a dozen lengths away third. Lady Ruby was fourth, just in front of Wattlowood. Timo, Smin 6 4-sth sec.

Hiroki was quickest to begin, and passing the stand was followed by Mayflower, Hardwood and Grey Ruin. Going along the back Mayflower took charge, but half a milo from home broke, and Hiroki again went to the front. Mayflower, however, was got going again quickly, and soon had Miroki's measure, winning by half a dozen lengths. Hardwood was -twelve lengths away third, with Jeanetto and Spaaish Lace a long way back next, lime, 3min 56sec.

Miramar went off smartly, but Blackchild Boy was in charge bb they passed the stand, closely followed by Wallaco junr., Miramar, Galvanita, Ruby S., and Lodi, while Princo Wilkin was making up his ground fast. Wallace junr. was beaten as they went along the back, and five furlongs from home Prince Wilkin had run into third place. B.ackchiid Boy whs still' in front as they turned into tho straight, where Lodi put in a good run on the rails. The latter finished well, and won a good race by three parts of a length. Prince Wilkin was four lengths away third, with Miramar fourth, Galvanita fifth, and Ruby S. next.
