PASSENGERS BY THE SAN FRANCISCO STEAMER.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.)
WELLINGTON, January 1. Among the passengers arriving today from San Francisco by the Tahiti were tho following:—Bishop Willis, of Tonga, who has been on a visit to the Old Country. Ho was curat© of Strood, Kent, from 1856 to 1862, and Serpetual curato of St. Mark, New irompton, Kent, for nine years afterwards.* He was appointed Bishop of Honolulu irf 1872 and filled those duties until 1902, when he was appointed Bishop of Tonga. Mr It. T. O'Connor, a banker and broker of St. Paul, Minnesota, and a prominent Democrat in his State, Is travelling on a pleasure trip, accompanied by Dr. C. E. Smith. Mr J. B, Cory, a Californian fruit grower, is making a tour, with his wife, of tho Australasian colonies.
Judge C. E. McCorraick, of the Nativo Land N Cotirt, was another passenger returning from a holiday tour. Dr. Winifred Bathgato arrived back after a seven months' trip to England.
