CANTERBURY JUNIORS v. OTAGO JUNIORS.
Tho annual match between representative junior teams of Canterbury and Otago was commenced yesterday at Lancaster Park in fine weather, and on a good wicket. There was a fair attendance. The Otago Juniors bad lirst strike, but on the whoh< their batting was not impressive, and it* took them nearly '21 hours to make their 141. The local men's fielding was even k\ss praiseworthy, thon;.'.!) several of them — notably Falconer —bowled very well. Eade and Harry started for Canterbury, but they were deadly slow, only an occasional single being scored in tho first seventeen overs. Tho onlookers were ironical, and the first four brought a round of applause. Harry livened up after this, and on the whole batted exceeding well for his 31). Time was railed with one wicket, down for r>s. ■which it took an hour and a quarter to compile. »Scores: — OTAGO JUXIOKS. First Innings. .1. Xugent. b Falconer .. .. 4 I).
