NEW ZEALAND . TROTTING ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Association was he.d yesterday a««noon. Present:—Messrs P. Seng (pres.dent), W. G. Garrard, A. M. Samuel, W. H. Denton, C. S. Howell, and W. Hayward. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs R. 0. Duncan, H. F. Nico.l, and C. F. Mark. The following disqualifications imposed by the New South Waiea Trotting Club weie endorsed:—P. C. Barrio and Myles Skinner, for twelve months from October 19th; G. Ph.ppa.'for six months from November 6th; B. Uiiiigan, for twelve months' from September Ist; the bay ge.dmg Pcgar and brown gelding Arty B, for twelve months from October 19t_; and the bay mare May Queen, for six months froi_ November 6th. T. Annett wrote thanking the Association for the grants made to lu_a from the Provident Fund. Correspondence was teoeived from Messrs Darragh, Brown and Tanntr, who had been called upon to chow cause why they shou.d not be disqua-ified in connection with tae "Timaru" case. It was decided to make further wvestigaiions into the case, and to ask Measrs Gray, Barrow, Greentrco and Montgomery whether they would furnish statutory declarations, and also to call upon Mr Brown to produce the horso Timaru for inspection at Te Puke, and to instruct Mr Darragh to retain possession of 'iTing Park for a month. " The secretary of the Oamaru Trotting Club reported that at the Club's meeting on Labour Day, a protest had been entered by tho owners of Rebe against the stake in the Pukeuri Trot being awarded to Major Taylor, on the ground that the latter had galloped in the straight and past the post, "lhe protest had been dismissed. __c President stated that there was no appeal, but a letter had been received from the owners of Rebe complaining of the stewards' action. Looking through the documents, it did not appear that any statement had been made by the patrol stewards, nor was it clear whether there were any patrol stewards. It was decided to refer the case back to the dub. for further information. Tha action of tbo stewards of the South Canterbury Jockey Club in d.squalifying the horse Andy Regan for interference with Tornado in the Cl—remont Trot was endorsed. Licenses as recommended by the Licensing Committee were granted. The committee recommended that the application _of G. B. Murfitt bo refused, and that the license granted to M Ryan be withdrawn pending further information. The committee reported that George Barron, Joseph Carter, and Thomas Aitchison had been granted changes of licenses from to professional. Such applications were becoming frequent, and although directions undcrl ned on every form were given to applicants that they must state whether they required amateur or professional, in many cases no heed was taken. In future cases whero applicants, through their own fau.t, were granted wrong .licenses and applied for _ change, the committee ro- (

commended that any change be treated as a new applicat.on and paid for as such. The committee further recommended a grant of £S out of the Provident Fund to T. Davidson iv respect of his accident. The report was adapted.

Monoplane and Don Quex aro on board the Wimmera. which left Sydney yesterday for Auckland. A rather remarkablo ine'dent occurred at the start of the Royal Stakes, run at the Newmarket Meeting on Friday, October 18th. A good deal of trouble was caused through tho vagaries of Pintadeau (PL Jones), Serenader (D. Maher) and White Star (F. Wootton, the only starters. The London "Sportsman" gives tho following account: — "For a moment, when Jones and Maher wero pulling their mounts' heads in tho right direction, Pintadeau and Serenader stopped their slow gyrat'ons, and the starter released the tapes. Neither of tho three horses made any attempt to jump off, each standing still with tho gate up. Jones was the first to persuade his to move, and he secured a lead of three or four lengths fiom tho other pair, who ran sido by side. Tho horses must have dwelt fully ten seconds —an extraordinary incident at tho beginning of a flat race." Tho winner is owned by h:s Majesty the King.
