CANTERBURY v. AUCKLAND. The following team, will represent Canterbury In, the Shield match against Auckland, to be played at Lancaster* Park on Thursday -next, the 18th inst.: "—Goalkeeper", C. ' If the weather should be unfavour- ' able for practice this afternoon, the team will have some training at the Sydenham Football Club Hall- in Lawson street. ' . i

AUCKLAND, July 12. The Auckland Hockey representative team in quest , of the Shield leave here on Sunday' night. They play Wellington ■on Tuesday, and. Canterbury on Thursday.- The* Auckland team will consist of:—Goal, W. Allen; full-backs, H. ,B. Speight, E. R. Jacobsen; halfbacks, L, t G. Robinson, D. K. "Porter, V. C Kavanagh, M. Alison; forwards, O. N. Jacobsen, J. iMahoney, F. R. Mason (captain), N..R. 'Jacobsen, J. B. Reynolds,. R. B. Young. Mr Eliot Davis (vice-president of tho Association) will travel with the team, and a number of hockey enthusiasts also,contemplate ' making the trip. The selection of the team to represent the- northern province has given satisfaction" to the critics. It contains some promising young, material, and has a fairly good chance of lifting the shield, provided the forwards' combine well. The backs are a'fine lot, the half-line being particularly good.

. TO-DAY'S LADIES MATCHES POSTPONED. Owing to tho inclemency of the weather and the consequent muddy-state of the grounds, the Canterbury Ladies' Hockey Association has postponed the matches set down for to-day. -
