Mr Bonar Law, writing to Mr ftittner, tho Unionist candidate for Hanley, says that the Radicals have suddenly become advocates of singe tax "a form of lunacy which recurs at irregi' lar intervals, and an extreme idea which is more absurd than the Labour Party's Socialism."

CAMPAIGN FOR LAND NATIONALISATION.

(Received July 12th, 9.40 p.m.) LONDON, July 12. A meeting of Liberal and Labour members of tho House of Commons formed a strong committee to further the acquisition of land by tho Central Government and local authorities, based upon Government taxation of land values. ;

•It is understood that the committee's intention is to prepare a memorandum concerning the nationalisation of land for presentation.to tho Premier and Mr Lloyd George. '

Tho committee have disclaimed any opposition to th c committee 60t up by Mr L'.oyd George to enquire into tho land question. THE INSURANCE ACT.

LONDON, July 12. In the House of Commons Mr Grant moved an adjournment to call attention to tho Government's inability to provide for sanatorium benefits under the Insurance Act.

Mr Masterman replied that there were existing institutions for the treatment of tuberculosis at tho disposal of the Insurance Committees. Domiciliary treatment would commence forthwith.

THE ANTI-GAMBLING BILL

In the House of Lords Bishop Hereford's Anti-Gambling Bill was withdrawn, the Primate having disowned the measure.,
