AYRSHIRE BREEDERS' ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of tho Ayrshire Breeders' Association was held in Palmerstott ivorui during Show weak. Mr I. .W. Wilkio preeidodj and stated that the memb-orsnip liad increased by about 47.

The first lexiiit submitted was: "To arrange best means of testing and weighing milk of registered Herd Book Ayrshire cows by the New Zealand Agricultural Department or otherwise." Mr Cuddio congratulated the meeting on tho proposal. Breeders bad found the suggestion a great advantage, but they could not expect strangers to accept their test. Such a scheme as suggested would popularise the breed and. raise the value of stock. Ho advised farmers to go in for purebred siree, for which there was a good future. After some discussion it was resolved, on tho motion of tho Chairman, that tho Executive of the Association go into tho matter and obtain information as to the best system to adopt, and report at a meeting to bo held in November, and confer with South Island members in the meantime. A hearty vote of thanks was voted Mr Cuddie. Tho next question discussed was: — "Should the Minister For Agriculture be asked to eond a man that the Association could recommend to select future imported Ayrshire stock ?" On Mr Kyle's motion it was decided "that if any further importations be made by tho Government a recognised authority bo sent to select."

The selection of more Ayrshire judges and the question of the best, means of educating yonng judges was discussod. It was decided that nil judges in future should in their judging conform as far as possible to the standard laid down in the Ayrshire Herd Book.

The Carterton A. and P_. Society asked that the Association should appoint a jud.s*e of Ayrshires for its Show. It was decided that the Association could not do further than forward its list of judges, from which the A. and P. Society could make o selection.
