CRIMINAL CHARGES

A BAD LIST.

. The .list of criminal cases to. bo dealt with by the Supreme Court during the criminal sittings opening, on Monday is a particularly formidable one. Up to date there are twenty charges against sixteen individuals. The great majority of tho cases relate to crimes of violence, and several of them are of a particularly offensive and repellent. character. The list, so far as it has been compiled, is as follows:— 1 Archibald Neville—-Assault with intent.

Jack Sylvester Hogan—Forgery and uttering (two charges). Tom H. Selwood —Unnatural offence and indecent assault.

John S. Hogan—Forgery and uttering (two charges), and breaking and entering and theft. Archibald Dasler —Rape.

Thomas Long—Theft from the person. Mary Ann Hill Cosgrove—Concealment of birth. I/CwJs Tom Chapman—lndecent assault.

James Gibbons —Attempted murder. William Davis —Breaking and entering and theft. Twentyman Wilson—Perjury. James Russell —Manslaughter. William James —Theft from tho person.

Colin Cameron—Theft from the person. David Roberts —Unlawfully wounding. Reginald Blunden —Manslaughter.
