NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS.
Following are the visitors' engagements in conn-ection with tho New Zealand Swimming Championships, to be decided at the Tepid Baths, commencing on the 15th inst: Wednesday, February 14th, 13.30 p.m., official reception at Tepid Bath; 8 p.m., entertainment at Mr Hornibrook's.
Thursday, February loth, 8 p.m., fi :e t day ew Zealand Championships nt Tepid Baths. February 16th, 1.37 p.m., trip to JCew Brighton. Saturday, February 17th, 2.30 p.m., second •Jay Xew Zealand Championships at Tepid Ba'-hs.
Sunday, February 18th, 9.33 a.m., picnic to Diamond Harbour.
Monday, February 19th', 9.30 s.m., drag drive; 8 p.m., Weat-Hayward pictures. Tuesday, February 20th, 2 p.m., visit to Hardens and Museum; S p.m.. third day Now Zealand Championships at Tepid Baths. Wednesday, February 21et, Kakaia, Club's Sports.
Thursday, February 22nd, 1.45 p.m., trip to Sumner; 8 p.m., fourth day 'New Zealand Championships at Tepid Bath. Friday, February 23rd, cricket match and sports; 8 p.m., social by combined chilis. Saturday, February 24th, 2.30 p.m., Opavra Club's Sports. Tho Auckland competitors will be M". E. Champion, W. Welson, B. Horton, J. .Terron, J. D. Stewart, and A. O. Hare. These will compete in the championship events. Hiss Mackay will compete in tho ladies' .championship.
Hawke's Bay will be represented by Felix Seymour, Geoff Seymour, H. Walden ajid X. McCartney in the championship events.
Wellington will send C. Brice (the 100 yds champion), R. Healey, W. Stranger, P. Roberts.
Greymouth will be represented, by A. White".
Otngo will send A. Dawson, R. Newinan, and R. Roberts. Miss Motion will compete in the ladies' championship. Wanganui will b© represented by W. Clarinbald
Canterbury's representatives will be W. E. Cookson, C. 11. H. Rich, P. A. A. Schwartz, H. B. Jerred, U Hill, M. Truscott, G. L. Bull, A. C. McPherson, L. Poison. Miss Rar.some, Miss Ostlor, Miat Eadc, and others will tnko part, in the ladies' championship. Tho lifo-saving championship for tho Wigram shield will be competed for for the first time, and the entrants include representatives from Hawko's Bay, Wangaaui, Wellington, Otago and Canterbury. Tho Yaldhurst shield, which is at present on view at Messrs Walden and Nimn's, ju.gh street, will also be competed for for the first time. The competition for this shield ie between teams from tho different centres, points being allotted for all places in championship events. This shield has been presented by tho now defunct Yaldhurst Amateur Swimming Club, and is a very handsome trophy.
Other trophies to be, compoted for are on view at Mr Robinson's, High street, and Mr Batley's (Sandstcin and Sons), Cashel street.
The first annual carnival of tho Tinwald Amateur Swimming Club was held on Thursday afternoou. Tho weather was most unfavourable, rain falling heavily throughout, which affected the uttendaace considerably. The following are the results: —
