WELLINGTON, October 30,

The following is a copy of the High Commissioner's report, dated London, October 28th. Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot:— Mutton—Tho market is quiet but steady. Tho poor demand continues, but the stock is moderate. Medium and heavy-weights are getting very scarce. Canterbury 4Jd, North Island 3jd, ewes -id.

Lamb —The market is dull, and very little business is doing. Canterbury od, other than Canterbury 4fd. Stocks of lamb on hand are light. New season's. River Plate is selling at 4Jd.

Beef —Th*. market is ve-ry flat. Chilled supplies of River Plate beef are heavy. Nominal quotations:—New Zealand hinds 3_d, fores 2j.d, chilled hinds 31d, fores 2Jd.

Butter—The market is quiet, but steady, after a decline. Danish 1373, Siberian 1295, Australian 1275.

Cheese —Tho market is quiet, and the demand is improving, but prices are unchanged. Canadian 69s to 70s.

Hemp—The market is quiet, with small business doing. Holders are firm. New Zealand good to»fair, on spot, per ton, £20 ss; fair grade. £19 ss; fair current Manila, £20 ss. October to December shipments New Zealand gocd to fair, £20 12s 6d; fair grade, £19 12s 6d; fair current Manila, £20 ss. The output from Manila for the week was 24,4-uO bales.

Cocksfoot Seed—The market is firm. Owing to the recent drought, an increasing demand is anticipated during the coming season. Danish is quoted at 755.

Kauri Gx.m—Tho market is quiet, but steady; 320 packages were offered, and 50 sold at Thursday's salo. Dark brown selected, re-scraped, £6 to £8 7s 6d; dark brown three-quarter-scraped, 80s to 92s 6d; dark brown chips, drossy, 35s to 455; re-scraped pale amber, £11 to £15; throe-quarter pale scraped, £8 to £9; diggers' chips (good), 40s to 50s. Wool—Tho market is somewhat steadier.
