Tho Auckland Scouts -wore called ont for a general parade to enable some cinematograph pictures of Scouts at work to bo taken some days ago. Tho troops lined up at tho Pousonby reserv(-/>:-. .'iud headed by their drum and fifo band, marched, to the Old Stone Jng at tho Western Springs, when they were joined by further detachments, and a halt was made. Aml/ulanco, signalling, and bridge- building sections got to work. A bridge was thrown across the creek, camp was erected, lieid telegraph instruments get going, sentries posted, and a!! the general work of a big Scout bivouac was soon in full swing. Two parties were formed, one to defend the c.unp, the otner to attack. Tho defenders fornitd up behind a low stone wall, and the attacking force advanced from behind some- }o*,v hills in tho form of a crescent, the two turns extending en each tide of the doomed camp. Some good work was dono ou both sides, though'the attackers had better opportunities for giving exhibitions of stalking, especially while they were advancing across some broken ground. Tho boys availed themselves of every inch of cover until they weio quite near, when a final charge over the wall and into tho camp was* made, completing with tho squads of ambulance and signallers in the foreground, a picture realistic enough to excuse even the coolest feeling a bit "nervy." At the conclusion District Commander Stebbing congratulated the Scoutmaster on the orderly conduct of tlio boys, and on tho success of the afternoon. The pictures obtained would, ho hoped, after being exhibited in Auckland, bo sent Home, and brother Scouts there would have an opportunity of seeing what New Zealand was doing towards the movement. The parade was in charge of District Commander H. Stebbing, assisted by Inspectors Applegarth and .Campbelf, Chief Scoutmasters Ashton, Able, George, Bust, and Kingsbury.

Tho Chief Scout met the Scouts and Scoutmasters of the Oxford Terrace Troop in their club-room last week, by invitation, and gave thorn a short talk on Scout life, and a Scout's duty to brother Scouts. The Chief was, greatly plonscd with the tone of tho troop, and with the high moral and religious standard pet before tho boys. Before dismissal the troop and its"officers stood at the salute, and repeated tho Scouts' promise in uni=o?!. This, too, the Chief was pleased to commend. It sent tho hoys off with a sense of- their responsibility. A sympathiser writing to tho Ch:cf Sooute, says : —"lt is a jrroat pleasure to meet a Scout with his pleasant *niile, cheery manner, and ready salute."

TalkTiigof salutes., last Saturday, while passing along High. street, I observed the Chief Scout receive tho focout salute from a large number of boys who met him, but ono lad especially who was in mufti and wearing a college or High School cap, Ktraightcned nimsolf up and gave the salute like a veteran. The Chief stopped, shook hands in "tho r&ulinr" Scout fashion and asked tho boy whaj troop he bd the lad and h:s smile and evident pride in his troop were something worth t-GGJllg,
