LONDON WOOL SALES. LONDON, May 26. At the wool sales, the Moeraki clip, top, made 13_d; average, 12-§d.

For tho wool sales 182,658 bales were catalogued. Of these 93,000 were sold for Homo consumption, 69,000 for Continental firms, and 1000 for the United States, while 38,000 have been held over, including 21,000 from New Zealand. Compared with March sales merinos generally showed little alteration, hoicest lacked United States support, and therefore prices were barely maintained. Fine medium greasy erossbreds closed at from, 5 to per centum lower, the finer sorts showing the most denression. Coarse grades were firm, and prices unchanged; scoured declined Id. Prices for lambs wool wero well maintained. The following are tho prices realised for,the fleece portion of the clips named:—Kereru (top) lid, average 8-d; Koputone 21d, 20|d. Cotton 5.015 d. Hemp.—The market is firm, and prices, unchanged.

WELLINGTON, May 27. The Department of Commerce has received th© following cablegram from the High Commissioner, dated London, May 26th :—

The third series of wool sales has closed. The advance secured at tbe opening has been lost, and values are now about the samo as at the end of the last sales. Trado is good, manufacturers are busy, and prospects are favourable. Tho market is steady and likely to remain so. Twenty-one thousand hales of New Zealand wool havo been held over. It is estimated that the values of .Now Zealand wools at the close of tho £econd series held in London on April Ist wero:—Superior merino, Is to La 2d per lb; medium, lOd to ll.d; inferior, 8d to 9_d; fine erossbreds, UJd to ls 2d; medium erossbreds, 9d to lid; coarse, B_d to lOd.

The National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand, Ltd., are in receipt of tho following cable from their London office, dated May 27th, 1911:—"At tho London wool sales, merinos and erossbreds generally closed on a par with opening rates. Medium and fine, wasty sorts, greasy and slipes, jd lower; scoureds, Id lower."
