WESTPORT COAL COMPANY.

GREYMOUTH, December 6,

The Westport Coal Company's output last month was 41,026 tons 6 cwt. The company intend having a steamer built to engage in the timber trade from West Coast ports to the smaller ports in the North Island. The steamer is specially designed to carry a fair quantity on light draught, and to handle timber cargoes as economically as possible. The local company are just about to accept tenders for her construction, and the steamer will take ten months to complete. Her dimensions are:—Length 151 ft, beam 29ft Gin. carrying_so,oooft of timber on a 9ft Gin draught.
