AMUSEMENTS.
HAYWARIWVEST PICTURES The series of pictures representing "Uncle Tom's Cabin," and the others making up the new programme of the Hayward-VVeet Pictures drew a large audience last night at His Majesty's Theatre. Tho same bill will be given this evening. OPERA HOUSE. The new programme repeated by Fuller's Vaudeville Company last night attracted a large audience to the Opera Houee. The various items ; including those of the minstrel portion or the programme, the dancing of Messrs Far- ! rell and Gaffney, and the cinematographic representation ■of stirring- Incidents an the life of the bushranger, Johnny Vane, \>ere all well received. To-night the company appear in ihe same programme. BEEBE BALLOON COMPANY. On Saturday afternoon, at the Show Grounds, Addington, tho Beebe Balloon Company* will give a display of parachuting from one of their large balloons. On this occasion Mr Sebpho, the aeronaut, will, instead of the usual one drop from the balloon and the opening of the parachute, use three, making a triple drop from the trapeze below the balloon, where he will be seated, opening one of the parachutes at each. About twelve gallons of kerosene and gasoline are used to generate the hot air with which the balloon is inflated, and the inflation will be carried on in full view of audience. Those present on the occasion will be able to inspect the three parachutes used in the descent, as they will be exhibited prior to the ascent being made. There will be a display ofJananese daylight fireworks, and the Staninore Band will play selections during the afternoon. CTUPENTS' ENTERTAINMENT. A dramatic and elocutionary entertainment will be given by Miss Cowan and her students, at the West End Hall this evening. A very attractive programme has been arranged for the occasion. "THE MESSIAH." Handel's oratorio "Tho Messiah" will be Riven in St. Luke's Church this evening by the choir of the church The offertory will be in aid of tne Organ Fund. ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY. A popular concert in aid of the Music Library Fund will be given by the Orchestral Society to-night at the Theatre Royal. An excellent and varied programme has been arranged. Mrs Arthur Mead and Mr E. A Caerlyon Bennett, of Napier, will be the vocalists. ORPHEUS~SOCIETY. The seventh subscription concert of the Orpheus Society will be given in the Choral Hall on Friday evening. lV programme will include vocal solos, gioes, part songs, and orchestral ,items. The vocal soloists will be Misses Ethoiwynd Smith and Eva Field, r\nd Messrs K. S. "Whitham and Guensey. Alw3 U G. Rutter will give violin solos.
