M UNION BOWING CLUB. The rowing off of the heat** in th« New Members' Double Sculls was commenced on Monday evening. The competitors, although very willing, were somewhat rough. The vanous heats resulted as follows:—C.. Scott and W. Mercer beat L. Pither and H. Tarrant ; E. Bliss and J. Davis beat L. Wise and W. Osman; S. Marshall and B. Stanley beat E. Busing and C. Robertson; W. A. Smith and M. Gentles beat P. Coupland aud A. Hill; C. R. Davidson and L. Duggan beat J. Coffey and E. Willcox; A. J. Burley and F. ____ Fowke beat Smith and L. W. Clark": I_. Prankish and G. F. SutherlUnd a bye. Semi-finals: C. Scott beat S. Marshall; E. Bliss beat W. A. Smith; I_. Prankish beat C. R. Davidson; Burley beat Bliss; Frankish beat Scott. In the final heat A. J. Burl«y and F. 11. Fowke, W. Harrington (cox), Burley proved too fast for his opponents, and won easily. The following challenge races have been rowed off to decide who should represent the club at the Akaroa Regatta:— j Junior Double Sculls—Mitchells' crew beat j Beaumont's Maiden Fours—E. Dallison's crew beat H. ' C. Mansfield's. Youths' Double Sculls—Pither beat Empson. Maiden Double Sculls—Beaumont beat Harrison. On Saturday the Senior Double Sculls and Pairs will be rowed on the estuary at Sumner, and these events will conclude the challenge races. THE CHAMPIONSHIP REGATTA. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WANGANUI, December 1. At a meeting of tho Wanganui Rowing Association this evening, the date for the championship regatta was fixed for Saturday, 2Sth lebruary. The programme consists of ten events. The prize money for the Championship Fours is _50 first, and _10 second.
