THE FROZEN MEAT TRADE.
Messrs Gilbert Anderson and Co., ■writing on October 21st, say:—"Slow, dull trade, with no animation, price maintained only when supply short. Prices for Home killed beef are fully naintained. Mutton prices weaker, English owes selling at 3Jd, English lambs o>d, Scotch 5R Butch SJd. The relatively low, prico of fresh killed meat is "in strange contrast to the high prices of frozen. This can all be accounted for, that the retailers .have been working frozen meat extensively during the year, and waiting for new season's goods, cannot well make a change without disturbing the continuity of their business. Chilled beef is in large supply, with lower prices down to 2*d for fores, hinds 3Jd upwards. Frozen beef siuall demand," prices par to an Jα loner. Stocks of frozen mutton and lamb are in sm-ill compass. Smithfield market price for mutton is unchanged. LambsHi to Jd higher. Shipments on the way are eagerly waited for. future prices depend on supplies.
