The South Africans commenced a match at Topwoomba against a Toowoomba district team. The local eleven in their first innings -mado 83 (Barbour 12, Jones 39, Mahojiev not out 11). South Africa has lost two wickets for 100 runs (Zulch 36, Snooke not out 43). In a match against a team from H M S. Encounter, at Wellington, on Friday last. his Excellency the Governor captained the winning team and top-scored with CO, Captain Hamilton making 52 not out The scores were .-Lord Islington's team 163 for o wickets, innings declared closed, H.M.S. Encounter 119: It the next meeting of the committee of the Canterbury Cricket Association the following motion, to be moved by Mr Caygill, will be discussed:— "That this committee invite the Otago Cricket Association to send a second representative eleven to Christchurch to ulav a Canterbury second eleven, on December 24th, 26th and 2/th, on the understanding that the Canterbury Association undertake to send a second representative eleven to Dunedin next .season."
