THE GOVERNOR'S FAREWELL TOUR.
His Excellency the Governor, actothpanied _by his aides-de-camp, Captain - Shannon and , Captain Guthojue-Hardy, arrived from Weir liiigtoß by tho Maori yesterday, andjwent on to Dunedin by tlie first csprjsa. His Excellency holds a farewell . lavoo there to-day, and will attend tlie annual meeting of the Society for the Promotion of the Health of Women and Children. Ho will also receive an address. His Excellency returns to Christchurch to-morrow.
Tho Minister in attendance upen tho Governor is the Hon. J. A. Millar, who is accompanied by his secretary, -Mr F. Thomson.
His 1 Excellency, accompanied by Lioutenant-Colonel R. Heaton Rhodes, ' M.P., will make a tour of the Ellesmere district on Monday next by motor car. At 10 a.m. his Excellency wil! reach Lincoln , School, where ho . will ba welcomed by the members of tin. Lincoln and Springs Road Boards. At 10.30 Sjlwyn bridge will be reached, and here the party will meet the EJle.mcre Ror.d Boarch afterwards go- - i«S, on to Lseston School, where- his Excellency will address the scholars. >At KUlincby School, which will be reached at IJ. 15, an important cere- - - intny will take .place, his Excellency •"*«.:**ting a flag on behalf of Lady Plunket tor presentation to 'the Killinclsy School, Ireland. Brooksido School will bo the next in ord_r, and -at 12.15 the scholars will he addressed .by his Excellency, the party then proceeding on to Mr G. E. Rhodes', residence'at Meaclowbank, where they will h*H_h. Afterwards tho tour will be continued via Lake road, the party arriving at Southbridge School at 2.45. ■whore" his Excellency will be welcomed by the Town Board. Should time petraii, the return journey to Christchurch will be made via Tai Tapu. The arrangements which havo been made locally for the farewell to his Excellency on Tuesday evening should result in a i*ery successful gathering. In connection with it, there will be a variety of ceremonials. An address will bo presented by the Mayor, incorporated with a handsome-. ly-bound book containing some splendid specimens of antique Maori carvJi"K- Then his Excellency will bo askei to accept, on behalf of her Excellency Lady Plunket, a jewel-box made of special 'New Zealand woods. Thero ■■ill be one or two short speeches be""tae* that of his Worship's and this will close the citizen portion of the eercn*cnial His Excellency will, subsequent to this, be asked by tho Cantorbun- Cricket Association to accept a gold-mount ed cricket ball, as a souvenir of the lest Plunket Shield match played. The presentation of medals for long service to volunteers will close the ceremony. His Excellency holds a levee at, the Provincial Council Chambers on Tuesday afternoon.
