(PRESS ASSOCIATION TEIiEOKAM.) ] '...'■ WELLINGTON, May 23, | The Minister of. Labour (tho Hon. J. ] A Millar) is considering an-important modification of tho• "Workrirs" Dwellings. Actj which Will considerably extend its scope. ~ At present the applicant for. State assistance in providing a homo: has to be possessed of a certain amount of capital to provide, a margin between the State's loan;and tho actual value of the security.: but Mr Millar has prepared a scheme under, which the deposit .may bo as low as £10. Workmen will bo able to build houses for themselves with .practically no capital t-> start with, and pay off the principal easily by means of a weekly rental. The Minister states that the draft Bill is- now ready, "and it ' contains a stringent provision for preventing speculation in these houses: It will be impossible for the;original owner to dispose of his interest to anyone who already owns property of that description. ' "
