Sir George Clifford's horse San Francisco arrived by tbo Ulimaroa from Sydney yesterday. In consequence of the death of his Majesty the King the stewards of tho Canterbury Park Trotting Club havo decided to alter the dates of their Winter Meeting to Saturday, Friday, and Saturday, May 28th, June 3rd, and June 4th. As a mark of respect lor the late King, the committee of the Oamaru Trotting Club has abandoned the meeting announced for June 9th. Mr Highden has disposed of Gloss, who was purchascel on behalf of an Australian sportsman on Saturday. Soult's miniature daughter only stands about 14.1, and is undoubtedly one of the smarte-st of her inches seen out for a considerable perioel, Wren's Thousand, to be run at Ascot in September, is no doubt to be Gloss's mission. Meribah (lato Little Mary), who formerly raced in Mr E. J. Watt's colours, and who subsequently was taken to Australia, recently won the Wangcom Handicap of 150 soys at the Warrn.'mbool Meeting. Emperor Napoleon, who won tie Park Plate (England) of lot) soys at Newcastle last month, is a half-brother to "the Derby winner Orby, by Lesterliii or Clonmell out of Rhoda 8., and was making his first appearance on a ruct course in that event. He was tho highest-priceel yearling sold in Ireland in IDO3, having been privately disposed of by Mr R. Croker, his breeder, for 3500gns to his present owner, Mr F. J. Benson.
Brown, who rode.Storey to victory in the last Donoaster Handicap, steered eight winners at the Narandera Meetin;; in Now South Wales recently.

In the Balclutlia Court yesterday, an information against Charles Christie, charging him .with illegally betting in Greenock street, Balclutha, on the occasion of the Mounted Rifles Horse sports was dismissed, Mr Bartholomew S.M., upholding Mr origor's contention that it had not been proved that Greenock street was "within the Borough of Balclutha," as stateel in the information.
