PERSIA.
GERMAN INFLUENCE RESENTED. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. ST. PETERSBURG, Ma; 18. The Russian newspapers are indignant at Germany attempting to extend her political j-.nd economic influence in Persia, thus creating unsettled conditions. Reports of intrigues by Germany in Persia have been causing uneasiness for some time. A representative of the Deutsche Bank visited Teheran recently, just about tho time a convention between England and Russia on tho subject of railway construction in Persia expired, and it was said that this agent was endeavouring to secure a railway concession in the Russian zone of influence. If such \ railway were built it would be a menace to the Russian frontier. It is also through the Deutsche Bank, which is often simply tho German Government, has heen trying to negotiate a loan to Persia, which, of course, would not be pleasing to Russia and England. The St. Petersburg correspondent of "The Times" reports that it is believed in tho Russian capital that Germany is trying to do in Persia what she did in Morocco.
