. ' ; *> : The School of Art commences its second term on Monday ne_t. The exceptionally fine weather this year has enabled the members of the landscape classes to secure a larfje collection of sketches, and it is proposed io make use of those sketches to ,paint landscape compositions inside the School of Art during the', winter term. A class for beginners in the principles of lar.dscape "sketching will be commenced, with the idea of preparing studi-it. tor the outdoor classes held during the third term. The class for figure composition, which was commenced during the first term, is doing useful work. The. 'Rubaiyat Omar Khayyam has furnished material for several mural com.p«f«itions.' It is' intended io work out p;ural decorations and illustrations, based on the mythology of the Maoris, during the year, and Mr Joltanneis Andersen has kindly consented to recite some of tho lesser Maori myths lo the students of these classes.
