TAWERA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The first meeting of th© Tawera County Council was held at Srringfield on Tuesday There were present- - ."Messrs Manson, Milliken, Evans, John.v*n, Carter, Craighead, and Seymour. Mr .Seymour was elected chairman. Mr W. T. Popplo was appointed clerk to thc Council, and the late Malvern Eo.id Board office was appointed the county offices. It was resolved to write to the Selwyn County Council and ask that body to furnish a statemenr. ■ with a view to .ettlen.ent of accounts between the two counties. A bonus of £20 was voted to the clerk in recognition of his services in connection with the new county. It was decided to write to Mr Vickerman in regard to the approach to the Waimakariri bridge, which had been affected by the formation of the Midland railway; io have some J)oint_ tahea off the Mount White road, repairs effected tc- th;* Lochim-nr road; to have the stones taken off the West Coast road, between Springfield and Porters Puss, arid the ' water-table through Spriugf'eld cleaned.
