His Lordship Bishop Julius held a confirmation service at S:. Join s Church, Lecston, last Friday evening. There was a large congregation, and the vicar, the Rev. J. R. Hewland, presented nineteen candidates.

■At the meeting of the Leeston householders on Monday night, a discussion took place on the Bible-in-schooLs question, and a motion was passed requesting the Board of Education to allow of a Bible les_on being given for one halfhour per week in school houra. Harvest thanksgiving cervices were held at St. Mark's Church, Sedg-mere, on Sunday evening. There was a large congregation, nearly every seat being occupied. The churcli was tastefully decorated with an abundance of flowers and fruit, and an appropriate sermon was preached by the vicar, the Rev. H. G. Hawkins.
