SYDNEY, April 27,

An inquest on th© child Phillips who was so brutally murdered at Willoughby, has been opened. The evidence showed that the family lived in great poverty and misery, and that on the night the girl was killed, th© children went to bed foodless. The medical evidence showed that probably the victim was rendered unconscious with a blow, and that the jngular vein was then severed. The doctor detailed other horrifying injuries.

The inquest has been adjourned.
