CHEVIOT. At the monthly meeting of the Cheviot Connty Council a letter was received from" the Amuri County Council, notifying that they were prepared to spend £243 in re-decking the fliirunui bridge. .Mr T. Meikle was appointed to repiesent the Council at the Counties Conference. It was decided to write to the Engineer for Railways askirg that the railway surfacemen *>.? instructed to remove material taken from the water taotes in Hurunui gorge, instead of placing it inside of the roadway, thus raa<ung the road dangerous.
