SIR MALCOLM McEACHERN,

MELBOURNE, March 11

> Advices have been received conveying news of the death of Sir Malcolm McEachern, at Cannes, while on a yachting cruise in the Mediterranean. s

The late Sir Malcolm McEachern was a member of the Mcllwraith, McEachern and Co. Proprietary, Ltd., steamship owners, merchants, and coal •joritractors. He arrived in Australia in 1879, and his firm early engaged in tho frozen produce trade. He was Mayor of Melbourne, 1897-1900. and Lord Mayor. 1903-4. He sat in the Hcuse of Representatives for Melbourne in the first Commonwealth Parliament, 1903-4, and was formerly president of "the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce.
