ASHBURTON.

Mr.V. G. Day, S.M., presided at Ashburton yesterday. Bertram B. Wood, for Tiding a bicycle at night without a light, was convicted and discharged. Charles Fahey was committed for trial on a charge of cruelty to a horse, bail being allowed. The information was laid by Mr W. H. Zouch, Inspector for the S.P.C.A., for whom Mr Purnell appeared. In the civil case James Quiglev (Mr Crisp) v. H. J. Svmon, a claim of £5, judgment was given for nlaintiff by default, with costs. An Old Age Pensions Court was "held, at which two pensions were granted for the full amount, one for £19, and one application was held over for six months.
