ASHBURTON YARDS.
There was a rery good entry at the weekly stock eale held at, tb«.Ashburton yards yesterday, and despite the unfarourable morning, there was a good attendance of farmers and speculative buyerie. The sale, taken as a iwiiole, was not up to the prerioua week's, and pricee.-were slightly easier, but. the bulk of the yarding changed hands. The total yarding consisted of 118 fat ewes, 199 fat tvethers, 2599 mixed classes of store sheep, and 30 hfead of cattle. Wethers formed the bulk of the yarding in tHe fat pens, bat tie quality varied and, but for anything prime; prices showed a slight decline. Ewes cold eiceedingly well, and pricee were well maintained. Pricee were:—Best butchers' ewes 15s to 15s 9d, medium quality 14s 3d to 14s lOd, light weight* 9s Bd, hoggets 12e to 15s 3d, prime wethere 188 Id, others 15s to 15s 16d, two-tooths 13e. The bulk of the yarding in the store pens was made up of hoggets and wethers, and for th© class of sheep there was fair competition, and last week's pricee were well maintained. The ewes and lambs -were mostly full end failing mouth, and although the competition was not so keen as the previous very few lines were passed at auction. Prices were:—Four - tooth halfbred wethers (very forward) 14e 6d, brokenmouth half and three-quarterbred ewes arid lambs (all counted) 6s 7d, threequarterbred wether hoggets 12s 3d to 18s, threeiquarterbfed hoggets (mixed sexes) 12s 3d, ciill hoggets (mixed sexes) 7e sd', four, six and eight-tooth crossbred ewes and lambs 8s 9d, failingmouth three-quarterbred ewes and lambs 7s to Be, four and six-tooth threequarterbred wethers 14s Bd, two, four, six, and eight-tooth half end threoquarterbred ewee in lamb 13s Id. Fat cattle sold fairly well, fat heifers making £4 12s 6d to £8 7s 6dy fat steers £5 to £8 2s 6d, fat cows £3 7e 6d, springers £5 15s to £6 ss. SPRINGSTON YARDS. The entries at the Springston yards yesterday comprised 1594 sheep, 40 cattle, and 79 pigs. There was a good attendance of buyers, and nearly «very line changed hands at auction at pricee showing an improvement on recent values. The principal sales of sheep were:—l 24 ewes and lambs at 8s sd, !50 at 6s, 72 at 7s Sd, 52 at 6s lOd, 133 at 6s 9d, and 455 at 8s 7d, 89 ewe hoge«*B at 13s 7d, 82 at 14s 7d, 3.5 at ,« ' 8 wether hoggets at 12s Id, 41 at 12s lid, 34 ewe hoggets a€ 14s, 30 fat wethers at 17s Id, and fat ewes at 1/s. Dairy cows close to calving sold at from £8 os to £10 for good sorts, and from £6 to £7 2s 6d for medium sorts, yearlings from 31s to 45s per head. The pig market was somewhat easier.
