RANGIORA HORSE FAIR.
There was an. entry of 100 horses at the monthly sales at Rangiora yesterday, and an improved demand for good agricultural kinds. Prices were :—Unbroken light draughts, £13 to £l! 0; broken-in draughts, £30 to £43; aged farm horses, £10 to £24; hacks and light harness, £5 to £18. ASHBTJRTON. Wheat.—The first wheat of the newseason in this district has been threshed out of stook, and although the sample is a good one to look at, it is, ns anticipated, sadly out of condition, and i>, is doubtful whether months of stor&E, e even in a well-ven/talated store, will improve it sufficiently to permit of its being sold as milling;. Such being the case, the farmer has wisely placed it on the market for immediate sale, and, wo understand, a purchaser has been found at 3s 6d on trucks, for fowl wheat purposes. There has been a good enquiry for any milling wheat available, but without result. Oats. —A fairly large quantity of Duns and Danish have been on the market during the week, but, so far, very few of the heavier varieties have I been, threshed. Duns continue tt> find a .ready sale from Is 3d to Is 3Jd, while Danish bring Id less. There is a good enquiry for heavy Gartons, but it is doubtful whether purchasers could pay higher rates than Is 3d to Is 3Jd, unless for exceptionally good samples, for immediate delivery.
Oatsheaf Cliaft. —A few lines of old chaff have found purchasers on the market at from 55s to 67s 6d per ton. New chaff will hardly be ready for some weeks to come.
