ELLESMERE.
The last meeting of the Ellesmere Road Board was attended by Messrs Jas. Storry (chairman), John. JLochhead. J. S. Boag, iM. Dixon and John McMillan. Tho Chie-f Engineer of Roads wrote, stating that 'Mr W. S. Short had; been appointed to act as .a commissioner to hold an enquiry garding the- upkeep of tho main roads within the township of Southbridge, and stating that duo notice of the date "f the enquiry would bo given. The Inspector of Police wrote, replying to tho Board's letter referring to indiscriminate shooting from motor enrs on the main South bridge road, and stating that tho matter would be kept in view for proceedings to bo t-iken should the neoe>«sary evidence be forthcoming later. Mr Blacklor was appointed poundkoe.per. A representative of Messrs Booth", Maedonald and Co. interviewed the Board in reference to tho supplying of a pumping plant. Tt wis I resolved to asked the firms consulted by the (Board to forward quotations f<-r •i. 4J, or 5-horse> power engine, 4 inch pumD, and for a 6-hora» power enuiie I and 5 inch pump, all to be mounted on j a four-wheel carriage complete, with a j trial by expert , ? .it 10ft and Soft suction hoee and 10ft of delivery nipe. l)ie offers to bo Wlcr<xl with the Board en or before tho 11th inf.t.
